BIBLE: Please create for yourself a Bible journal. This is for personal use and will never be collected. Each month you should choose one or two Bible verses that we refer to that have meaning to you and copy them in your journal as well as memorize them. It is important to have the Word in your heart as we study History.Read in The Narrated Bible beginning with the section “Adam and Eve” through “Noah and the Flood”. Make notes in your journal as you read.
HISTORY: Read text pages 12 – 26. On page 27 do the following: “Can You Locate”: Color and add these to the map you drew: “How Much Do You Remember”: Answer questions 5 – 9; “What Do You Think?”: Prepare for a Socratic Seminar for question #5 next class. See the document on Engrade for an explanation as to how to prepare for a Socratic Seminar and your HW requirements for this. Please note that there is an explanation of the seminar AFTER the worksheet.
LITERATURE: Read chapters 5 – 8 in Adam and His Kin. Answer the following questions in your notebook:
1. What were the sins of Lamech?
2. What child was given the name meaning “anointed one?”
3. Who was the first astronomer?
4. How old was Seth when he died?
5. Describe the world Noah lived in.
6. Who was the oldest person to ever live? How long did he live?
7. Who were the Nephilim?
8. We will begin to study the motif of “trees”. On a separate piece of paper entitled “Trees”, make two columns. Entitle one column “The Tree of Life” and the other “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.” Document all you know about each tree in the appropriate column.
