Dear Parent/Guardian –

Below are two notices that require your immediate attention:

1. This year, your child is enrolled in Chorus. In addition to learning how to sing, your child will learn how to read music, how it applies to our everyday lives, and learn repertoire that is instructional and current.
Due to NYC’s continued budget cuts, you are asked to help support the Music Department by contributing music dues. This money will be used for manuscript paper, as well as new music that will be sung at our Winter, Spring, and NYSSMA concerts. In addition, leftover funds will be used to defray or eliminate costs of various trips and activities that take place throughout the academic year.
Please send a $15.00 check or money order payable to “MS 74 School Fund”. On the check/money order, please write your child’s full name and official class clearly and legibly.
Your support is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to hearing your child sing in class!

2. Your child has already been informed on how to access EnGrade.com; this will eliminate the need to distribute paper handouts to approximately 300 students. Homework assignments, notes, audio files, etc. will be made available using this website. However, if one of the below situations applies to your child, I would highly recommend purchasing a student handbook and/or Music Memory CD:
* if your student is pulled out from class at least 50% of the time
* if you do not have regular access to a computer
* if you are uncomfortable with using a computer

(Note: purchasing these materials is not required, as they are made available online.)
