Stop Animation
Course Objectives:
1. Write a script for an original stop animation film.
2. Create backgrounds and characters for an original stop animation film.
3. Film, edit and add sound to an original stop animation film.
4. Critique films and make choices about changes to improve the film.
Syllabus
Behind the Scenes
1. Writing the Script (Act 1, 2 & 3)
2. Creating and Giving Life to the Characters
3. Storyboarding
4. Set Design
Action on the Set
1. Using the Camera
2. Creating Fluid Motion
3. Changing the Camera Angle to Create Emotion
4. Recording the Soundtrack
In the Editing Room
1. Uploading photos to the computer
2. Uploading the soundtrack to the computer
3. Editing frame length to fit with the sound
4. Adding a title scene and credits
You will be responsible for having your stop animation ready for the HSC Film Festival at the end of this course in January.
Your final film will need to include:
- at LEAST three different camera angles
- at LEAST one minute of stop animation
- an original score, or combination of music which compliments the action
- at least two voice-overs lined up with characters speaking parts
- fluid motion
- at LEAST three different backgrounds/scenes
- a title screen and credits
