How does the Rock Cycle Work?
Rock Cycle Handout
On your own paper, draw a flowchart of the Rock Cycle as you understand it. Explain how minerals originally in magma could travel through the cycle and eventually end up in each of the three main classifications of rocks. Make sure you tell what must happen for each rock type to change into another. You may use the following terms: Igneous Rock, Weathering, Sediments, Pressure, Heat, Magma, Melting, Metamorphic Rock, Compaction and Cementation, Sedimentary Rock, Cooling. You may use some of the words above more than once in your flowchart. Be creative. You may use pictures to enhance your flowchart if you would like.
