# Algebra 1 Course Syllabus

Welcome back to school students!

This Algebra 1 course will cover all contents mandated by the California Standards, with an emphasis on writing, solving, and graphing linear and quadratic equations. Mathematical reasoning is also interwoven throughout. This Algebra course will be very challenging and I would like you to be an active participant in your academic progress this school year.

Teacher Expectations:

• Students must come to class with their McDougal Littell Algebra textbook, a a college ruled notebook (only for math notes), binder paper, a small ruler, pencils and erasers.

• Students must complete their homework packet on time to receive full credit. All late homework must be signed by a parent or guardian and will receive partial credits. A homework packet is assigned every two to four weeks aligning with the chapter instructed in the classroom.

• Students must read the Algebra lesson in the textbook that will be covered in class each night and be ready to participate the next day.

• All graded tests and quizzes must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to me within a one-week period.

• For recommendation to Honor Geometry, he/she must pass all three trimester benchmark assessments with a score of 90% or higher and maintain “A” average in the class.

• Any students who failed Algebra I will have to repeat the course in 9th grade.
