-Abdullah died before his birth.
- Aminah felt lonely and concerned about raising the baby alone.

- The date of birth of Prophet (pbuh).
• Prepare a special bulletin board about the birth of the Prophet (pbuh). Tell the children how according to tradition, the grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, gave the child name ‘Muhammad’ which means ‘one who is praised by everyone.’
• Plan a special learning center (‘Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Learning Center’) to be set up in the classroom or the main lobby, which deals with informative facts about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

• Read the story of Hazrat Halimah’s journey to Makkah and return to Banu’ Sa’ad with baby Muhammad (pbuh).
• Mention the blessing brought to Halimah’s family and her village.
• Figure out distance prior to class, so that he/she can help the children calculate the distance during class. Discuss the measurement of kilometers and miles.
• Discuss with students the various means of transportation effective for travelling acroos desert like Halimah ® lived in.
• Conclude the lesson by discussing with the students the number of years Muhammad (pbuh) lived with Halimah ®, and the blessings brought to her family and village during this time.

Life in Makkah with Mother Aminah

The students will:
• -Know Aminah was glad to have her son back.
• -Know that Muhammad (pbuh) and Aminah travelled to Yathrib and on their way back, she passed away.
• -learn the meaning of the word “orphan”

• Tell students about the episode of Muhammad’s (pbuh) journey with Aminah to Yatrib and her death on the way back.
• Discuss the fact that Muhammad (pbuh) became an orphan after his mother’s death.
-Talk about the feelings of losing one’s mother and father.
-Talk about how Allah (swt) wants every Muslim to treat orphans with love and compassion.

• -learn the difference between the two kinds of grandparents.
• -The uncle of the Prophet (pbuh).

-Relate how Abdul Muttalib took care of Muhammad (pbuh) after the death of his parents.
-Read stories about grandfather with children. (See bibliography B page).
• Maternal and Parental Grandparents
- Talk about different types of grandparents. Tell the students that Muhammad (pbuh) maternal grandfather was Abu Mannen.
- Ask children to bring in pictures of their grandfathers and talk about them, describing them in their own language. Explain the difference between Maternal and Paternal. Make a bulletin board of “Our Grandparents and Us”. In the middle write the name of Muhammad’s grandfather.

-Define Sunnah as the following the action of the Prophet (pbuh), and explain its virtues.
- Then discuss with students: marriage is Sunnah.
- Treating your wife kindly is Sunnah.
- Being honest, truthful, helpful, etc. is Sunnah.
• The Children of Muhammad (pbuh):
- Tell or read the story of the Prophets (pbuh) children.
- Inform the students that six children were from Kadijah and the last son was from his other wife Mariah.
- Teach the names of all the children of the prophet (PBUH).
- Make a model of “The Prophet’s Children”, incorporating shapes and colors into it.

The Sahabah of Rasullah /Abu Bakr’s ® love for Muhammad (pbuh)

The students will:
• - learn that friends and companions of the prophet (pbuh) are called Sahabah.
• - learn the names of the Sahabah.
• - learn that Abu Bakr ® was called Al-Sadiq, meaning “the Truthful”
• - Abu Bakr® was the first man to accept Islam.

Relate to the children that Rasulullah had many friends, whom we call Sahabah.
b. Emphasize how lucky the Sahabah were to be able to spend their lives with the Prophet (pbuh). Let the students contribute their ideas.
c. Tell the students that Muhammad (pbuh) had many good friends and companions. Some of them were: Abu Bakr ®, Salman Farsi ®, Bilal Al-Habshi ®, Omar Bin Khattab ®, Usman Ghani ®, and Ali Bin Abdul- Muttalib ®.

• Abu Bakr’s ® friendship with the Prophet (pbuh).
- Read or tell the students of Abu Bakr’s ® effort to save Rasulullah in the cave of Thawr. Pg. 36

• Understand that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has told us that Masjid is the best place to be.
• Will develop a desire to go to the Masjid for Salah, and learn to keep the Masjid clean and tidy.
• Review dua’ for the masjid.
• How should one behave when we are in the masjid?

• The Saying of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) are called Haidth:
- a. Introduce the word to the students and tell them that the sayings of our Prophet are called Hadith.
- b. Help the students understand that we should follow the teachings and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
- c. Help the children understand Allah’s (swt) words in the Qur’an and Muhammad’s saying as Hadith.
• Importance of Salah:
- Help the children learn the above Hadith in Arabic and its meaning.

• Importance of the Masjid:
- Relate the Hadith about Salah in the current lesson and ask the students, “Where do we go to offer Salah?”

• Be ready to learn to read the Qur’an in Arabic.
• Know that Allah (swt) is happy with those who teach the Qur’an to others.
• That Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has taught us to greet each other with “As salaamu Alakum.”
• Practice and greet each other by saying “As Salaamu Alakum.”
• Qur’a, the Book of Allah (swt) : “The Best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teaches it to others.”
- Introduce the Hadith.
- Help the children to read it in unison.
- Teach the meaning of the Hadith.
